LINLITHGOW ROSE 4-1 SAUCHIE
Rose entertained Sauchie in the first home match of the new season. Rose boss Mark Bradley was able to recall the suspended duo of Ruari MacLennan and Kevin McKinley with Lee Wilson also available and on the bench.
Rose started brightly and Ronald had a good chance early on. As the half wore on the visitors started to come into the game and Rose once again looked nervy at the back.
Just before the break a superb pass split the Sauchie defence and Ross Allum broke free before cutting inside and firing a shot across the keeper only to see it crash back off the far post. The ball broke to a visiting defender and his long clearance caught out Barbour at the pack and as he was wrong footed the Sauchie striker ran past him and slotted under McKinven to give the visitors the lead.
Half Time – LINLITHGOW 0-1 SAUCHIE
Rose made a change at half time with Ian Gray making way for Daryl Meikle and Darren Smith moving to right back. Straight away there was much more drive and urgency in the Rose play and it took just 9 minutes into the second half before a driving run into the box from Ruari MacLENNAN saw him fire the ball past the keeper to level the scores.
Just 5 minutes later Rose were in front when a free kick from the stand side touchline by RONALD eluded everyone and nestled in the far corner of the net.
5 minutes later on the 65th minute Rose extended their lead when ALLUM latched onto a through ball and hit his shot past the advancing keeper.
A string of dubious offside calls from the enclosure side official saw Rose boss Bradley find his name in the refs book when he was a little too vocal in his protests.
Rose rounded off the scoring when the two Hamilton loan players combined, Sean Slaven did well out wide and his cross was met by Daryl MEIKLE who tucked home his first goal for the club and earn Rose a 4-1 win after a superb second half performance.
